Welcome to RBG Academy, where we believe in the power of unity and the significance of our shared heritage. Our mission is to ensure that the exceptional legacy left by our ancestors serves as an empowering beacon for generations to come. Sadly, this invaluable aspect of history often gets downplayed in mainstream textbooks across various disciplines. In response, we established RBG Academy in 2017, dedicated to addressing the impact of this lack of self-knowledge.

At the core of RBG Academy's principles lies community, and we have created a nurturing and secure space where Black children can embrace their heritage without reservation. We firmly believe that learning about one's true history is essential for personal growth and a strong sense of identity. To foster a comprehensive learning experience, parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents actively participate in our programs, providing their perspectives and experiences during engaging discussions. Even amidst the challenges brought about by COVID-19, our vibrant community continues to thrive and shine brightly.

Our approach is distinct, challenging the notion that a solid educational foundation must be based solely on Eurocentric instruction. While this approach has benefited those from European cultures, it has left a void when it comes to addressing the questions and history of the African Diaspora. When children are solely exposed to Euro-focused education, their understanding of their heritage becomes overshadowed and incomplete. This perspective often depicts our ancestors as enslaved individuals or uncivilized savages, failing to recognize their numerous achievements in various fields such as math, science, astronomy, art, architecture, literature, and military strategy, predating ancient Rome or Greece. In reality, our ancestors were the architects of civilization and culture, with a profound impact on human history.

At RBG Academy, we aim to present an accurate image of our ancestors as geniuses, royalty, and a highly developed culture. Our children will explore their African heritage unapologetically, discovering the richness of their roots and embracing a history filled with greatness and distinction.
